It was a full house for our January 16th Lunch ‘n’ Learn! Mark Bock did a superb presentation on form changes and included 13 ways to terminate a Purchase Agreement (is the contract void or voidable?) Many thanks to Lakeland Title Company for sponsoring the session and providing lunch!

Inaugural / Affiliate Appreciation Luncheon 2019. Held at The Woods Too. Outgoing President Mike Patka presented the gavel to incoming President Dani Rittermeyer. Mark Bock presented the Oath of Office to the new board members and Mark Hansbarger recognized Donna Meschberger posthumously as NEI’s REALTOR of the Year. Susan Acree won the drawing for a year’s worth of free MLS usage because she attended at least one Lunch ‘n’ Learn during the past year and also attended one of the Affiliate-sponsored events.

October Lunch ‘n’ Learn – Very informative session on what can and what can’t be used in filing tax returns (donations, fundraisers, meals, travel, home offices, and more). Key question is not “Can I?” but “Should I?” Document, document, document! Keep all receipts for seven years. 50% of normal meals are deductible. What to file under “Marketing”. Lots of other good tidbits to know. Stephen Pierre II, CPA, CVA, CGMA, with Stephen Pierre & Associates LLC was entertaining as well as knowledgeable on a topic that most people dislike – taxes! Many thanks to our sponsor & lunch provider – Fidelity Title!

Zach Hayden, Master Instructor in Taekwondo and Krav Maga, talked to the group about the ABC’s of self-defense and gave some practical tips to use if threatened. We learned that physical contact can be avoided by being assertive and lots of other helpful information. Abbie and Karrie from Assurance Title sponsored the event and provided an awesome lunch for all of us.

Fascinating Lunch ‘n’ Learn with our State Representatives Dave Abbott and Denny Zent on 8/22/19! Round-table format with lots of discussion. They explained how things work at the State House: from an idea being formed to hours and hours of research and input from outside sources to Committee to actually writing a bill. We are blessed to have two such dedicated individuals working for us at the State House! Thanks to Todd Miller, Beacon Credit Union, for providing lunch! (Photos courtesy of Shala Cook-Hoover)

Jennifer Motz, MSW, LCSW, with Clarion Call Counseling spoke about stress at our July 18th Lunch ‘n’ Learn. One of the questions she asked was, “Are you in control of your time or is your time controlling you?” She emphasized the need to balance our lives and include “play” time, as well as other tips on managing stress and anxiety. The session sponsorship and lunch was provided by Cyndi Andrew, Ruoff Mortgage.

Jim Price, Conservation Officer with the DNR, presented an enlightening session on lakes/piers/riparian rights/permits/rules/laws and more at the Lunch ‘n’ Learn on 6/20/19. The session, with lunch provided, was sponsored by Frank Tijerina, Farmers State Bank. Many thanks to Officer Price, Frank, FSB, and all those who attended!

What an awesome Lunch ‘n’ Learn on marketing yourself on social media! Thanks, Michelle Clayton (Hallmark Home Mortgage) for hosting and providing lunch! Not only did we learn about the most important social media trends and the top three topics that get engagement on social media, we learned about Facebook’s point system, best time to post, what makes a great video, tips for the best photos with your cell phone, and so much more! Brock Rauch and Kyle Thacker (HHMTV) were amazing presenters, kept us intrigued and also laughing! The winners of the tripod giveaways were Irene Lutz and Dani Rittermeyer. To those who attended, thanks for supporting NEIAOR and our affiliates; to those who couldn’t attend, so sorry you missed it!

RPAC 2019! Our annual RPAC Fundraiser and Auction, held April 18th at The Woods Too was a great success! There were LOTS of exciting auction items, both live and on the silent auction tables. Thanks to our auctioneers for the event: Mike Patka, Ryan Jernigan, and Andy Treesh! The event would not have been possible without the sponsorship of Aardvark Home Inspections, Beacon Credit Union, Campbell & Fetter Bank, Farmers State Bank, and Horizon Bank; our gratitude to them is immense! Thanks also to all who donated items and to those who came out in support of the event!

Homesnap Training at the Board office 3/12/19. What an app! We’ll be offering the training again in the next couple of months so if you missed this one or want a refresher course, watch for details. Thanks to Jas Singh, Horizon Bank, for providing lunch!

What an interesting and informative Lunch ‘n’ Learn session on January 17, 2019! Mark Bock, IAR’s 2018 Distinguished Service Award winner, not only went over the changes to IAR’s forms for 2019 but delved into cryptocurrency, verbiage that should be on your office policy, how to lessen your liability, and so much more! And to top things off, he was presented with a crown to celebrate his achievements! Our sincerest thanks to him for taking the time out of his busy schedule and the effort put forth to keep us updated on the changes. Many thanks also to Jas Singh, Horizon Bank, for sponsoring the event and providing such a delicious lunch from Super Chopsticks!
